Beta Testing 1, 2, 3

Before a book goes to print it's a good idea to have beta readers check it out and see if there are any issues. You can hire beta readers, ask other writers, or even friends. I'm finally in the beta stage from my children's books! I have two friends and another up and coming author helping me out. Soon I'll be ready to hire an editor and my books will be ready for everyone to read.

I have two children's books I'm working on. The first is The Shy Girl. It's the one that's currently being beta read. The book is about a little girl named Asha Laundry and her adventures in the brave new world of kindergarten. Asha is not very enthusiastic at first. She already knows her letters and she can count to ten. What else could there be to learn? Plus, she's going to miss spending her days with her mom. She wonders why she must go to kindergarten and why they call it kindergarten anyway. She ends up sitting with a mean boy, named Marcus, who gets her in trouble. At recess she plays with a girl named Mallory. She's nice, but she sure does talk a lot. Asha is beginning to think kindergarten is nothing special, until science class. The teacher, Miss Ola is out of this world. She wears an outer space dress and brings in a model of the Solar System. And Asha learns things she never knew. Science is amazing! With a trip to the museum and a science project coming up, she's more excited about kindergarten then ever. But she may run into some trouble when she must present her project in front of the whole class and everybody's parents. This book will be great for, students, kids and grandkids, especially if they're curious about the world. I can't wait for you to read it!

The second book is called Ruby and Ella's Christmas Countdown. It's all about a five year old girl named Ruby Walker and her friend Ella, who happens to be a little pink elephant. Ruby and Ella have known each other since as far back as they both can remember and, Ella has always been there for Ruby when she needed her. In fact, the little elephant gives very good advice. This year Ruby is excited for Christmas, but she runs into a problem when her Sunday school hosts a gift drive. Ruby must get a gift, an awesome toy piano, and then give it away to a little boy she doesn't even know. This doesn't seem fair to Ruby. But as she and her family and friends count down to Christmas day, she may come to realize just how wonderful it can be to give. This book will be great for students, children and grandchildren, and help them learn about, giving and kindness. I hope you check it out!

I'm super excited about both book and this new stage I'm in. Step by step we're getting closer. With year drawing to a close soon I was afraid I hadn't accomplished much. Maybe I didn't draw enough. Maybe I didn't write enough. Still things are happening. I've met a few new people and made some new connections. I'm optimistic at least. Maybe things just take time. I'll update here soon.

Happy holidays.
